How is a natural make-up/ look supposed to be like?

I'm 21 and new to make up and these type of things. I tried to achieve a natural look with the Bare Minerals products.

Last time when I went to Sephora, I was asking an employee for some help and she told me it didn't look like I had any make up on.

So I'm confused, should a natural look not look like you have make-up on or should it be just subtle make-up that still look like you?How is a natural make-up/ look supposed to be like?
My definition of natural makeup is just wearing the least amount of makeup that you absolutely need. It doesn't have to look like you aren't wearing any, but it shouldn't look like you just piled a bunch of junk on your face. This is a great example of natural makeup:

It just looks really unnatural and muddy. Not good.

Okay, a natural look is a look that is very subtle. It simply enhances your natural look. BareMinerals is very good for achieving this look, its what I use. Some tricks are...

- Use little eyeliner, if any at all. If you use liner, try just on your top lash line.

- Using just mascara is great for this look. It makes your lashes longer and fuller, without looking too heavily overdone.

- As far as your face, little foundation with a hint of blush on your cheekbones.

A little clear lipgloss for shine, and your good to go! Looking very natural!

+ Subtlety is the key! Good luck.
ok i think u went too natural lol

i recommend using the concealer (powder or liquid ur pick but liquid lasts longer) from Prescriptives

if ur tan, use neutral, earthy tones for eyeshadow like a bronze, medium gold, brown, etc.

nothing too light or dark for any skin tone (too extreme)

if ur paler, use neutral tones but a bit lighter

go to mac for blush

they have the cutest colors

i'm a peachy pink but everyone is different so ask them to try some on to see what color u r

use lip gloss cuz lipstick is just disgusting

if u have a dark skin tone, use colors like ruby, dark cherry, etc.

if u have a med. skin tone (ie tan) use colors like cherry, lilac (trust me it's cute), etc.

if u have a lighter skin tone, use pale colors like a pale pink or something

try mascara from maybelline it looks really good when applied

that pretty much covers everything unless u like eyeliner but that's not really natural
It depends on how you want to define ';natural';

The things most people agree on:

1. neutral colors that you see in nature.

2. not too much eyeliner (you can have visible eyeliner, but if it distracts from your face, it's too much)

3. sheer color on the lips to let your actual skin show through
natural make up is supposed to look like a perfect you without showing that you have a lot of make up on. so ur second choice is a definite. natural make up can be lite pink lip glooss and lite blush and conceealer with mascara and eyeliner.
look is clean and healthy and pretty i like to make my eyes pop by using beach colors (blue greens and tans) on the lids of my eyes and and us bown Mascara
